Acrylic Paints

I enjoy using impressionistic abstract colors to make realistic perspective, light & shade, capturing in paint a unique moment & place.

I like to paint images with cool stories behind them, many from personal experience, usually reflecting life in Texas, especially Austin.

I realize that an artist can work on any painting indefinitely and it will never be ‘perfect’ so I decide a painting is finished when I can say, ‘That looks pretty cool.’ Thus my brand name Pretty Cool Art by cjo, and the obvious double entendre meaning art which is both pretty & cool.

I am also the author of the book “Fire in the Water, Earth in the Air: Legends of West Texas Music” (UT Press, 2006).
